This is quite belated, but I thought I'd include notes on what each update actually entails: Beta 1.33: -added sound effect for zombies destroying furniture. Beta 1.39: -corrected error where every time a human drank liquor it was ending up in Melissa's inventory. -corrected error where if you searched every square, on the last square the game would freeze. - modified order zombies move; they are now organized by proximity to one another instead of in the order they were brought into play, which should make the zombie player's turn (especially with lots of zombies in play) a lot easier. Beta 1.43: - added title screen with ability to start new games, load saved games and exit. (And version number). - corrected very minor error in game that stated Matches were required to light Molotov Cocktails unless next to Fireplace instead of "Fireplace or a Fire." - corrected error that allowed Jennifer to come out of Frozen status on the first turn. - rerouted all exits back to the title screen - only way to completely quit the game now is from the title screen. Beta 1.53: - added Game Setup options: Militia Arrival Turn, Fence Status, Base Zombie To Hit, Zombie Movement, Zombie Arrival Initially Slowed, Panic Modifier, Calming Modifier, Movement Modifier, and Freeze On Natural. - made "Turn:" display also show the Militia Arrival Turn (in case it was modified). - display Base To Hit in zombie stats. - updated shotgun graphic. - corrected error disallowing humans wearing football gear from picking up 2-handed items. Beta 1.61: - corrected error where Turn: was only displaying Militia Arrival Turn during Step 1: Calming. - if Actions are unavailable (or limited due to panic status, etc.) made text appear in the Actions box to explain why. - made drop.wav play when a door is removed from its hinges. - corrected error where altering Freeze On Natural was graphically depressing the wrong button. - corrected error where if lightning flashed in the middle of pressing a mousebutton, the illumination would sometimes remain (also no new lightning flashes were possible while holding down a mouse button). - corrected error that was sometimes disallowing actions because game hadn't properly accounted for upstairs/downstairs status. - corrected very slight error where the words "LEAVE IT" were printed 3 pixels left of where they should have been when that button was depressed. - corrected error where erecting a new door barricade was eliminating previously erected ones. - added sound effects for zombies failing to climb the trellis, stepping off the roof, using the radio (successfully and unsuccessfully), putting up barricades, drinking liquor and locking and unlocking doors. - added new mouse cursors (arrow and 8 different walk cursors) which react appropriately to position and game conditions (though they still have a slight graphical glitch). Beta 1.62: - corrected graphic glitches in new mouse cursors. - added small arrow in top left of every mouse cursor to more specifically point out where mouse is pointing. - added select character cursor. Beta 1.66: - corrected error that transformed the graphic into walking cursors and select character cursors as long as the targeted square was valid, even if it was outside the of the viewscreen. - corrected symmetry of select character cursor. - corrected error not updating side panel during many Actions. - created target cursor and added it to all Actions that use it. - corrected errors allowing you to comfort, trade to or heal characters on opposite floors of house, but not at top of staircase or trellis from other side. - corrected error not showing walk cursor if mouse was over furniture on opposite level. - corrected error that was starting objects in wrong locations on occasion when starting a new game. - corrected error that was depressing wrong "chosen button" sometimes on starting new game. Beta 1.75 - Added a new file - ZNprefs.sav. Saves preferences and solved a bunch of start up errors in the process. - Made Fire and lone Barricades easier to see by pasting zombie corpses first, then the fire or barricades atop them. - Corrected error allowing zombies to walk through barricades if the window or door beneath the barricade was shattered. - Corrected error playing unlock sound twice. - introduced Zombie Corpse Map which should speed up rendering of view screen significantly (on a corpse free map it dispenses with 361 for loops and 180139 ifs per cycle). - Corrected error allowing zombies to try to enter the trellis from any distance. - Corrected error disallowing selection of humans during Zombie Player Turn. - Corrected a few errors with trying to cycle through humans on zombie player turn and vice-versa - now always jumps back to the appropriate type to keep things simple. - Improved Fire Graphics and made multiple graphics that are now displayed in various patterns for fire. - Animated fire. - Corrected an error where two-storey fires outside the house could occasionally burn down to 1 storey fires hovering in mid-air. - Added fire sound effect that loops when fire is on screen. - Added fireplace sound effect that loops when the fireplace is on screen. Beta 1.78 - Added warnings and checks if you try to end step 3 or 4 while characters or zombies are still eligible for movement. - Corrected error that was not displaying all information about a step if you selected a character's inventory in the previous step. - Corrected error that occasionally limited where the screen could be scrolled in certain phases. - Corrected error not displaying walk cursor if current selected person is a zombie on the second floor and the cursor is over furniture on the first floor. - Corrected small error where mouse cursor remained target cursor after selecting Human for a Zombie to Attack. Beta 1.92: - Created a new rulebook. - Corrected symmetry of Character Select Cursor and Target Cursor. - Modified some of the Walk Cursors. - Added Middle Mouse Button (Mouse Wheel) depression as a means to scroll the map. - Corrected error that was handling mouse input differently during Step 6 - Zombies Arrive, and thus slowing stuff down. - Improved every Human's odds off pushing the truck by 1. - Added "Push Truck On:" stat to Human Character Panel. - Corrected error not treating the top of Stair square or Trellis squares the same for Missile Attacks as for other Actions. - Made it so Humans run over by the truck do not leave behind a corpse (and hence don't reanimate). This is because in reality they would reanimate beneath the truck, but because a Character cannot occupy the area beneath the truck, they've actually been reanimating inside it). - Added a "DONE" button to Trade Window to eliminate confusion. Players now click "DONE" to end a Trade, instead of Right clicking. - Added Sound Effect to each Trade made. - Added cricket Sound each time a Human successfully flees the map. - Added sound effect for lighting Molotov Cocktails. - Added sound effect for extinguishing fires. - Corrected huge error allowing Fire Extinguisher to extinguish all nearby fires without using an Action. - Redid Unlock Sound, and made a new sound for Lock. - Added Door Creak sound for when people step on Shattered Doors. - Corrected error where cycling from a Human carrying a Heavy Object, or with a Leg or Torso Wound, ended that Human's turn. - Made Target Cursor appear during Trades if pointing at an Object in the Trade Window. - Added graphics for destroyed furniture. - Corrected error where when games ended you were dumped back to Windows instead of to title screen. - Corrected series of errors with Actions button appearing when it shouldn't. - Corrected error where sometimes people who died with Weapons Equipped, kept them Equipped after death. - Corrected error that was freezing game in Heal Wounds. - Added Right Click to Cancel ability and text to Heal Wounds. - Corrected very minor capitalization issue with some words. - Married Game and Manual by calling Step 5 "Panic Checks" in game, instead of "Panic Rolls." - Corrected pluralization error where Jennifer was "controlled by Zombie player for next 1 turns!" - Corrected error where target cursor remained until clicking Done after a missile attack. - Corrected error that could print character stats over buttons for selecting Zombie Arrival Locations in Step 6 by disallowing character selecting in step 6. - Corrected error displaying Movement Cursor over squares containing Human Corspes (which are non-enterable). Beta 1.98: - Corrected "grammatical" error in the Panic Checks - changed "rolls a" to "rolls an" if the number rolled was an 8 or 11. - Added new sound for when fence or shed door is breached and changed text during a fence breach to say "gate is breached" instead of "door is breached". - Added sound effects for filling Gas Can and Gas Tank and notice window informing you of success. - Edited the manual a little for typos and to include more of Bryan Fisher's fantastic artwork! - Started adding purely decorative elements to the house - kitchen tile, bathroom tile, carpeting in the bedrooms and a rug in the living room. - Corrected error where furniture and barricades were not resetting on new games if you didn't exit the game first. - Created 12 new Tree graphics and created a loadable tree map to vary the landscape a little. Beta 2.05: - Created 11 new Grass graphics and created a loadable grass map to vary the landscape a little. - Created 4 new Cement graphics and mixed them in using grass map. - Edited cement graphic to more clearly delineate the squares (like all other tiles in game). - Animated the opening and closing of doors + added sound effectsfor closing doors and closing broken doors. - Added splash walk sounds for humans and zombies for when they step in puddles. - Added sound effects for objects landing in grass and puddles as opposed to just a generic sound of objects dropping on wood. - Added really cool sound effect for Militia Arrival. Beta 2.09: - Corrected a few more in game typos. - Corrected error where Humans weren't being forced to face the Gas Tank when filling it from the Gas Can. - Updated Baseball Bat graphic. - Characters are now displayed carrying any Equipped weapon (though all Character graphics are hopefully only temporary). - Characters wearing Football Gear are now displayed as such. Beta 2.10: - Added a check for cursor type before changing cursor which I HOPE solves mouse trail problems occurring on certain computers.
